This happened right before the confinement of several countries: the 1st of the 3 modules forming the SITEX/ENSTTI training course. The first of its kind took place from 9 to 13 March 2020 at ENSTTI premises in France, with 9 participants from 5 organizations. It included training on regulatory review and assessment of the safety case for disposal facilities, keeping a large time for discussions. A laboratory visit and almost one day of exercises with role-play in a regulatory review process completed the course. Trainees were also given the opportunity to deal with various situations of high level radioactive waste management by participating in a “serious game” named PEP (Pathway Evaluation Process) developed within SITEX. Several trainees who were completely new on radioactive waste management found this training “really helpful”, a very good start allowing direct application at work. The less novices in the field appreciated the innovative training format and the different case studies made alive by the expert-lecturers.

Now, let’s roll on the next module!
